Reminder: Dinosaur Day and Elmo's Birthday Party THIS Weekend!

Just a quick reminder that both Dinosaur Day and Elmo's birthday party are this Saturday, February 26, 2011.  If tomorrow is anything like today then it will be the perfect way to spend a cold, rainy day with your active toddlers and young children (though these events are for everyone in the family)!! 
Dinosaur Day is from 11AM-3PM at Brown's North.  Some activities are free, some are pay-per activity.
Elmo's Birthday Party is at 2PM.  This is a free activity.

Dinosaur Day at Brown's Orchard (North- Emigsville)

Visit Brown's Orchard (Emigsville store) Saturday, February 26th from 11AM-3PM for Dinosaur Day!
This will be a day full of dinosaur activities, sorytelling, fossil dig, dinosaur balloon animals, crafts and more!  Listen to Author Mike Sgrignoli and his son, Ethan read from their new book, Dinorific Poetry.  Brown's will also be serving Dino-themed lunch specials. 


Some activities can be done for a small fee, others are free.

Toddler Time at the Dover Area Community Library

Toddler Time at the Dover Area Community Library is for 2-3 year old children and an adult.  Join Miss Ellen at the Kids Corner from 10AM-11AM on Tuesdays or 11AM-12PM on Thursdays as she share stories, rhymes, crafts, music, movement activities and more. 


Registration is not needed and it's free!  Call 717-292-6814 for questions.  This event is on  Tuesdays and Thursdays.  The last 2 Toddler Time events on the calendar are on Tuesday February 22, 2011 from 10AM-11AM and Thursday February 24, 2011 from 11AM-12PM.

Elmo's Birthday at Borders

Happy Birthday Elmo!
On Saturday February 26, 2011 at 2PM kids ages 3-6 can celebrate Elmo's birthday at Borders (parents note that the birthday star will be celebrating on Sesame Street) with music, stories, crafts and more (varies by store)!

Silverlicious Celebration at Borders

Saturday February 12, 2011 at 2PM Borders is having a Silverlicious Celebration to commemorate the new book featuring Pinkalicious.  Kids can enjoy games, crafts, giveaways and a Pinkalicious parade!
This special event is for Pinkalicious fans and fans-to-be ages 4-8.

York Builders Association Home Show

Thursday February 3, 2011-Sunday February 6, 2011 is the York Builders Association Home Show at the York Expo Center (York Fairgrounds). 
Children are free with an adult, adults are $6 ($1 off with a donation.)
Kids at a builders show?  Sure!  They have a few activities specifically for children including the Lego competition and face painting. 

The schedule is as follows:

Thursday February 3, 2011
5PM-8PM- Lay-A-Brick
Kids and adults can learn brick-laying with students from York County School of Technology Masonry Academy and the York Adams Co Masonry Association aiding children.  There is a $1 per brick donation for the York Builders Association Community Service and Scholarship Fund.

Friday February 4, 2011
5PM-8PM- Lay-A-Brick

Saturday February 5, 2011
10:30AM-1:30PM- Kids can visit the Home Depot workshop and try one of a few different projects that can be taken home.  They will also receive a certificate and orange apron.  Kids must be accompanied by an adult and it's limited to the first 100 kids. 
12PM-8PM- Lay-A-Brick

1PM-4PM- Lego Home Building Competition
The Lego competition is hosted by Lexington Builders.  Children ages 5-12 can compete (in two age groups) to build Lego masterpieces.  Children in the competition will receive a t-shirt and goodie bag.  Registration for both age groups is at 1PM.  Space is limited to the first 25 children.  2PM is the start of the 9 & Under competition.  3PM is the start of the 10-12 competition.  Kids will have 45 minutes to build their homes.  4PM is the awards ceremony.  (I noticed the registration times are listed differently on the site.  One page says both age groups are to register at 1PM, another says that the 10-12 group is to register at 2PM.  You can confirm the correct time by contacting Cathy Warner at the York Builders Office at 717-767-2444 x16 or Cathy@YorkBuilders.com).
