"Fun at the Farm Without the Fright" at Barefoot Farm

Pick your own pumpkins and enjoy a family fun day at Barefoot Farm, 6621 Bluebird Lane Dover, PA 17315.  

Children can enter the Garden Gourd House, play in the Corn Box, explore the Straw Fort and follow the Sunflower Trail to get their picture taken.  Hayrides are available for $3 (free for 24 months and under) on select days- Monday and Friday at 6pm, Saturday 11am & 1pm).

Pumpkin Picking Hours are(Beginning 9-25-10 thru 10-30-10) on Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri 10-dusk and Sat 9-2p.m. (Wed. & Sun.- Closed).

Brown's Farm Market and Garden Center Fall Fest

Join Brown's this weekend, October 2 and 3 from 11a.m.-3p.m. at their Emigsville location for a family fall festival. 

For a $5 wristband kids can play all day.  Games and activities include a straw bale mountain and maze, moonbounce, face painting, pumpkin painting ($1 for a pumpkin) and a 4-H petting zoo (Sunday only).  

There are also $2 wagon rides.  

Tons of delicious Fall food will be for sale (sweet potato soup and apple cider- YUM!) and free musical entertainment will be available both days.

Stauffers of Kissel Hill 2010 Fall Festival

Dover Location Events.  Visit http://www.skh.com/garden/fallfest_york.jpg to see events at the East York location.

This weekend, October 2 & 3 and next weekend, October 9 & 10 Stauffers of Kissel Hill is having their annual Fall Festival.  On both Saturdays you can enjoy the festivities from 10-3 and on Sundays from 11-3.  

There are tons of FREE activities to do all 4 days, including mini golf, pumpkin tic tac toe, pumpkin bowling, straw maze, face painting, Halloween hopscotch, pumpkin painting (with the purchase of a pumpkin- they are all very cheap!) and much more.  You can also make a scarecrow, which costs around $10-15.   

Parents, there are even some fun things for you, including a cooking demo and decorating ideas.  

We visited the Dover location in 2009 and even though it was a rainy day the kids had a blast painting pumpkins, doing a scavenger hunt (I didn't see that event listed this year but it was a favorite of theirs), playing in the straw maze and mini golfing.  We were even able to snap a few photos with their huge pumpkin display.  Here are a few pictures of our fun and wet day last year:

York Literacy Council Book Sale

On September 10 from 10a.m.-8p.m. and Sept. 11 from 10a.m.-4p.m. the York Literacy Council will be holding book sales at their location: 800 E. King St. and at the West Manchester Mall.  Families will have plenty of new and gently-used books to choose from at great prices.   

The West Manchester Mall location will offer a filled basket raffle and a bake sale will be held at the York  Literacy Council.    

I've never been to the Literacy Council but the West Manchester Mall location always has a great assortment of books and they are really cheap! 

Dallastown Carnival

The annual Dallastown Carnival will be held from August 17-21, 2010 at the Dallastown Community Park.

The time schedule is as follows: 

Tuesday 8/17: 6-10PM

Wednesday 8/18: 6-10PM

Thursday 8/19: 6-10PM 

Friday 8/20: 5-11PM

Saturday 8/21: 5-11PM

Wristbands can be purchased for $16 daily but look for a $2 off coupon in the Community Courier (valid for Tuesday and Thursday).  This coupon may only be in the Community Courier for the Dallastown areas.    


The entertainment schedule is as follows:

Tues: Tall in the Saddle (Country)

Wed: Jud Conway (Roots/Rock/Country)

Thurs: Shiloh Ridge (Blue Grass)

Fri: Full Tilt (Motown) 

Sat: Jay Jackson Band (Classic Older Country)

Windsor Fest- Saturday July 24, 2010

Saturday July 24, 2010 from 10am-6pm the Windsor Fest will be held at Laucks Memorial Field (The Windsor Ball Field).  It's a one-day family event with be rides, food, live entertainment and crafts.  There will also be special appearances by Mickey Mouse and Elmo! 

I can't for the life of me figure out where Laucks Memorial Field is.  I tried to Google it but with little luck.  I got results for all the local hospitals and a church in Windsor- is that where it is?  Sounds like fun!   

Jefferson Carnival: Fund Raiser for the Jefferson Sportsmen's Association

*The 2011 Jefferson Carnival announcement will be available on July 1, 2011 at 6:30AM!!* 



Today and Tomorrow, the 16th and 17th, are the last days of the Jefferson Carnival in Codorus Township, located at 4704 Sportsman Club Road, Codorus Township, off Route 516 (see map below) in Spring Grove.  
You can enjoy food, games, rides and music at this family event.  Live music begins at 7:30pm.  Ride bracelets were $14 Monday & Wednesday with reduced prices on certain days, but there was no info on the wrist band prices for Saturday or Sunday.  This is NOT a pet-friendly event.

Music Schedule:

• Friday, July 16: John Dillard and the Last Train Runnin’
• Saturday, July 17: Carroll County Ramblers

This is a yearly summer event and the largest fund raiser for the Jefferson Sportsmen's Association.
